is from Dec. 20 to Dec. 30.

31 with New Year's holiday fol
lowing.
Knights Columbus
Hold Yule Parly
Mt. Angel The Mt. Angel
Council Knights of Columbus
held its annual Christmas party
following the regular business
' meeting with an exceptionally
large membership present. Plans
for an initiation to be held on
January 19 was formulated. The
program will begin with mass
and communion for members,
breakfast, and following the In
itiation a banquet will be
served. Father William Frank,
a missionary from India, where
he was for 5 years, and who at
tended Mt. Angel College in
1931 and 1935, was introduced
by the council chaplain. Rev.
Damien Jentges. The sick com
mittee reported that Joseph D.
Hauth is still ill at his home
that Richard Foltz injured his
hand at work on Tuesday morn'
ing; and that Fred Hecker of
Woodburn, a former member of
the Mt. Angel council K. of C.
had suffered a heart attack and
is at the Woodburn hospital.
The ' refreshment committee
chosen for the next meeting in
cludes William Schaecher, Pat
Ebner and Josph Bochsler.

Soldiers Make Visit

ton, Wash., spent four hours at
the home of his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Clark Noble, here. Accom
panied by several servicemen at
same fort he came by plane to
Portland where Rev. S. J. Os
borne of McMinnville, father of
one of the men, met them and
brought them by automobile to
Dayton and McMinnville. Mr
and Mrs. Noble took John to
Portland and he flew to Fort
Lawton and reported for over
seas service at once at Yoko
hama, Japan. ,

Dallas Churches Offer Pageants
And Other Programs for Yuletide
Dallas Nearly all of Dallas churches are planning special ob
servances for Christmas with many programs scheduled for Sunday
and in the days following through Christmas day. "The Christ
Child," a pageant, will be pre-f-
sented by the Assembly of God

The Evangelical United Bre
thren church will have a Sun
day school program on Sunday
evening at 7:45 and the choir
of the church will present spe
cial selections at the time of
the regular morning worship.

President Visitor
Amity Mrs. Marion Wilson,
of Bandon, president of the Re
bekah assembly of Oregon, paid
her official visit to Victory Re
bekah lodge No. 94 at McCoy.
A no-host dinner preceded the
meeting over which Mrs. Da
phne Christensen, noble grand,
presided.
Mrs. Ina Shields presented a
gift from the lodge to the presi
dent, Mrs.. Leslie Stewart, in
troducing her mother, Mrs. Na-
house, who was elected to mem
bership by deposit of card from
Lupine Rebekah lodge No. 116
of Moro.

president of the Rebekah as
sembly, Mrs. Elsie Mitchell, dis
trict deputy, president of In
dustrial Rebekah lodge of Amity
and Mrs. Tillie Babcock, DDP
of McCoy, were introduced with
Mrs. Wilson. A short program
was given after the lodge meet
ing. Mrs. Hazel Gibbs, noble
grand of Industry Rebekah
lodge, presented six members.

201 was also a guest.
Pratum Paper Drive
Buying Equipment
Pratum The pupils of Prat
um school netted $3i.l3 during
a recent paper drive conducted
by the school. Of this amount,
$21.75 was raised by the upper
grades and $9.38 by the primary
department. A football and a
table tennis outfit will be pur
chased by the upper grades with
portion of their paper drive
funds.
The sale of bangle pins in the
school brought $7.10 from stu
dents, who also contributed
$8.50 to the Junior Red Cross.
A Christmas program will be
held at the school Friday night
at 8 o'clock. Holiday vacation
will run from December 25 to
January 2.

At the Methodist church the
choir will present a Christmas
vesper program in candlelight
at 5 p.m. Sunday and the church
school program will come on
Monday evening at 7:30.
Music and pictures was fea
tured at the young people's
program at the Free Methodist
church Friday evening and
Sunday school program will be
held Sunday evening at 7:45.
Several special services are to
be held in the Christian church
for the Christmas holiday. "Pre
pare Him Room," Christmas
carol cantata, will be presented
by the choir on Sunday evening
at 7:30. A Christmas night can
dlelight service will be given
by Mr. and Mrs. Jupin, evangel
ists, who are conducting meet
ings at the church, on Christ
mas night at 7:30. It is entitled
"The Light of the World." The
Sunday school program will be
held Tuesday evening and the
evangelistic meetings will be
held each evening in addition
to special programs.
The Menn o n i t e Brethren
church will have a choir pro
gram on Sunday evening at 7:30
and the Sunday school program
will be on Christmas night at
7:30.
At the Christian and Mis
sionary Alliance church the
Sunday school and choir will
combine to present a program
and cantata on Monday evening
at 7:45.
The children's program of
the Ev angelical Mennonite
church will be given on Christ
mas night at 7:30 and the choir
program will be held Sunday
evening at 7:30.
The Grace Mennonite church
choir will present its program
also on Sunday evening at 7:30
and the children's program will
follow on Tuesday evening at
7:30.
On Christmas morning a ser
vice will be held by the Trinity
Lutheran church at 10 a.m. and
the children's program will be
featured the night before, Tues
day, at 7 p.m.
Masses in St. Philips Catholic
church will be conducted at
8:15, 9, and 9:30 on Christmas
day.

with supplement in chorus by
the junior division, in "We
Three Kings."
Lois Olson read the Scripture
lesson of Luke 2: 1-15 and Mat
2:9-11. Miss Sue Toter appeared
in a violin number of "Angels
Serenade."
The balcony and seating space
for guests on the main floor was
filled to capacity.

mas program Sunday evening
at 7:30 o'clock. This year's pro
gram will be new and unusual
and all members and friends of
the church are invited to join
in commemorating the birth of
Christ.
Each class of the Sunday
school is presenting a part of
the program which will consist
of a male octet from the adult
classes, a special group from
the high school class, the Na
tivity scene from the junior
class and a special group pro
gram from the beginners and
the primary.
A portion of the evening will
be spent in congregation sing
ing of all the old and well-liked
Christmas hymns.
At Stayton Church of Christ,
the children's part of the Christ
mas program will be given in
the opening exercises of Sunday
school next Spnday morning
at 10:30 o'clock. A play, "The
Golden Flame," will be present-
td at 7:30 p.m. by the Wyto-
machee class.
The Christmas program of
Baptist Sunday school will be
presented at 8 o'clock Sunday
evening in the church auditor
ium. The Christmas story will
be told in music, recitation.
