    .Nicotine Dusts
Control Aphids
Nicotine dusts are still the
standard recommendation for
control of hop aphids though
several of the newer chemical
dusts have given promising
results for use when nicotine
is not readily available, accord
ing to a report on hop aphid
research just issued by the O.
S. C. Experiment station.
The recent scarcity of nico
tine sulphate has created an
acute problem among Oregon
hop growers, according to a re
port contained in station cir
cular of information No. 393.
This material has the advantage
of killing the insects both by
contact and by the fumes it
gives off.
The newer insecticides tried
in experiments over the past
few years are purely contact
killers, hence they have to be
applied more thoroughly to the
under side of the leaves. Most
of the machines now used by
growers for dusting are not suit
able for applying the purely
contact dusts, it was found. The
war-born aerosol generators
have shown promising results
with some of the new materials
but not with others.
' Authors of the circular are
H. E. Morrison, Dr. Don C.
Mote and W. B. Rasmussen, all
of the entomology department
Jet the station.

Knock-Kneed Girls
Sexiest Looking
New York, Nov. 21 U.R
Knock-kneed women had a
champion today in Broadway
Hoofer Richard Stuart. He
claims they're the nicest girls
of all, and the sexiest looking.
Dr. Bert Pollins, a cynical
psychologist and executive sec
retary of the New York consul
tation center, said "maybe," but
Stuart maintains the reasons are
two-fold and obvious.
"I'm surprised that more peo
ple haven't mentioned it," he
said.
"In the first place, knock
kneed girls have a swaying mo
tion in their hips. And it's
always interesting.
"In the second place, they

ABOUT THESE VALUABLE "HELPS'
Tax authorities both Fed
eral and State require that
farmers maintain accurate
records of farm income and
outgo as a basis for deter

The farmer himself should
have these important facts
about his own business. To
simplify the keeping of rec

Department of Oregon State
College has prepared two
types of Farm Account Rec
