Strain Returns To Pulpit Sunday Dudley Strain, minister of the First Christian church, will be back in the pulpit this Sunday after a six weeks' absence. He has been studying in the east at Columbia university, taking the refresher course offered for ministers at Union Theological seminary. The Sunday morn ing homecoming service will be held at 10:50 o'clock and Mr. Strain's sermon topic is "Act ing Like Chrisians Now." Spe cial music will be under the direction of John Schmidt, Jr. This Sunday the First Chris tion church will carry out in worship and song the president's request that Sunday, August 19, be a Sunday of thanksgiving and penitence and remembrance in the churches of the land be cause of victory. Episcopal Church Peace Observance The 11 o'clock Sunday ser vice in Saint Paul's Episcopal church will be a service of thanksgiving for the world peace that is now In the making. The men and women who have been and are serving their coun try in service will be remem bered by name and prayers of thanksgiving offered for their safety. Driskell, regimental chaplain of the First Replacement regiment, Camp Adair, will speak both morning and evening at the First Bap tist church Sunday, in the ab sence of Dr. Fox, who is on vacation. Chaplain Driskell has been with the army and CCC for 11 years and has seen between two and three years of service in the present emergency. At the morning service Chap lain Driskell will speak on the subject, "The Abundant Life," and Robert Gallagher will sing "American Prayer" by Albert Stillman. The sermon subject for the 7:30 hour is "The Ut termost Savior for an Utter most Sinner." Miss Kathleen Broer, recently returned from Philadelphia, where she has been studying the violin at the Curtis Institute of Music, will play "Ave Maria" by Schu bert.
