Franklin D. Roosevelt disclosed
Thursday that Prime Minister
Churchill was concerned about
anti-aircraft protection during a
recent motor trip with the pres
ident near Washington.
She related this incident to
a convocation of city college
students:
"My husband and I were driv
ing with the prime minister out
from Washington to a place
where they planned to spend the
night. The prime minister asked
if there was any anti-aircraft
protection.
" 'Why no, the president an
swered, 'it's just a camp and can
hardly be seen from the air.'
"The prime minister said,
'anywhere I go In Great Brit- '
ain they take anti-aircraft pro
tection with me.' He paused a
minute and then said, 'but An
Great Britain there is no p.J
more than 15 minutes away
from the enemy'."
