Truck Route
Thru Lebanon
Being Sought
Lebanon City Recorder George
H. Randle has written the state
highway commission asking for ad
ditional funds for Improvement of
a trucking route through the city.
The proposed route will be by
way of Milton street to Williams,
thence north to Wheeler and wast
to the highway. State funds were
recently approved for this route
using Elmore street instead of Mil
ton, but since Elmore street passes
Queen Anne school, the new route
was deemed advisable by the city
council. Additional funds would be
for the section on Williams be
tween Milton and Elmore streets.
The present city trucking route,
which avoids the business district,
is by way of Maple street to Park,
north to Vine and west to the
highway.

The city of Eugene, she said, was
supplied with 200 blanks from Leba
non due to a shortage there and as
a result this area found Itself in
the same fix. Mrs. Gill said the
needed materials should be here any
day.
All districts in the area were
being covered according to sched
ule, and registrations have been
coming into the Lebanon employ
ment office daily, until on Thurs
day about 2000 completed blanks
had been received, according to
Manager Cal Edwards.

Lyle Thomas, state representative,
publicized the fact this week that
he would make his Intentions known
within the next few days, a state

assurance 'that he would again be

the democratic side of the fence
there has been whisperings but
nothing concrete to work on.
Among the county offices, aid
there are several on the block for
disposal by the voters, the situation
appears to be somewhat muddled,
There are indications, however, that
there is likely to foe some spirited
competition for the office of coun
ty judge, now held by Herman Van
Well.
Tracy Staats, an old time demo
crat is first in the field with a
challenge to the Incumbent if he
decides to again contest the office.
Van Well has not said yes or no
and is biding his time In the mat
ter. Frank E. Kersey, republican
candidate, is a certain starter for
the county judge spot. Some - of
the experts have pooh-poohed the
idea but Kersey is certainly flirt
ing with the prospects with the
.thought of election and those who
have his confidence are predicting
that he is likely to file any old
time.
Fred Gibson, whose term, as coun
ty commissioner expires this year,
is non-committal. Gibson indi
cates he plans to give the matter
very serious consideration and will
not show his hand for the time
being at least.
