A wedding beginning at the end
the evening hours, always brings up
day or evening clothes. This problem
women since women's clothes can in
drcss fashions very easily fit Into either day or evening picture. Today's
letter is from the groom-to-be who-
wants to know, "Would it matter
seriously, do you think, if the men
In my wedding wore tuxedos at the
church at five-thirty? There is to
be a reception at the Country club
after that and as so much of the
wedding festivities are taking place
in the evening we wondered whe
ther the tuxedos wouldn't be bet
ter than the day suits?"
Correctly speaking of course, eve
ning dress should not be worn be
fore six o'clock. But when, as in
your case, the greater part of the
wedding celebration la taking place
in the evening. I do agree that it
is more sensible to appear a half
hour ahead of time in evening dress
than to wear day dress throughout
the evening. White double-breasted
tuxedo coats and black tuxedo
trousers would be particularly suit
ed to the combination day-and-eve-nlng
picture.
A Clergyman and His Wife
Have Housewarming
Dear Mrs. Post: We would like to
have a housewarming of the par
sonage. Should my husband and I
both receive, and where are we sup.
posed to stand? Another question is,
shall we leave the personal cards
or the presents some of the people
have sent lis for the house?
Answer: ordinarily a wife re
ceives near the door of entrance
and her husband either stands be
side her or else mingles with the
guests. But In the case of a clergy
man, he is so definitely set apart
by his congregation, that it would
be more suitable that he stand
nearest to the door and his wife
next to him. Or she might stand
elsewhere if she thinks it would be
a better position from which to di
rect people to other parts of the
house. Occasionally she might walk
about with the guests particularly
to point out where their presents
have been placed. About the cards
since they could not very well
have been left on any of the things
in use. it would be best to remove
them all.
banked with all pink and white flowers

cousin of the bridegroom, will serve
as ushers and will light the candles.
At the reception which will follow
the ceremony, at the Evergreen
home of the bride's parents, Mrs, I.
D. Idleman of Salem and Mrs. A.
F. Johnson of Moro will pour, and
Mrs. John Brunner of Salem will
serve the cakes. Assisting about the
rooms will be Mrs. Harvey Hallet
and Mrs. Art Pederson. Serving will
be Miss Janet Hallett, Miss Bessie
Standard, Miss Ruthyn Thomas
and Mrs. Paul Hagen. Greeting the
guests will be Mrs. Zena Thomas.
Both Miss Towns and Mr. Stamey
are among the popular younger so
cial set of SUverton, and finished
the local schools in the class of
1830. They will make their home at
Valsctz after a short wedding trip.
