Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Finley left
Friday on a business and pleasure
trip to California. They will visit
at tlie home of Mrs. Finiay's moth
er, Mrs. E. I. Morkln, at Gustine,
Calif., and look after business af
fairs in 8an Francisco. They ex
pect to be gone about a week.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert W. Hiru of
Holllster. Calif., were recent guests
at the home of Hinz' brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. B.
Hinz. They were en route to Can
ada and will visit relatives In Wash
ington before returning home.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Jenness left
Tuesday for Walton, Ore., where
Jenness will be employed in a mill.
James Winfrey, proprietor of the
Texaco lunch on the highway, has
had the building enlarged, making
more seating room for his customers.
Miss Doris Miller visited relatives
In Portland last week.
Wednesday dinner guests at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Smith
and Mrs. Cora Peabody were Mrs.
Charles Lord of Powell, Wyo., and
daughter. Miss Mildred Lord of Yel
lowstone Park. Wyo., and A. C.
Oramm of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs.
Antone Horton of Sherwood and Mrs.
Mae Englet of Oregon City. The
latter Is the mother and Mrs. Hor
ton a sister of Mrs. Smith. All
were friends when the Smith 1am
ily lived in Montana.
Carl Yunker and Bryan Boyer of
the Green's bridge district returned
Thursday from Myrtle Point, where
they have been employed.
Mrs. James Winfrey went to Mc
Mlnnvllle Wednesday for a visit with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Cochrane.
Firemen Kept Busy
Silverton The flue fire at the
Earl Hartman home, another at
the North Water street home of the
Dr. C. S. Simmonses and a call to
the lire at the Labish onion sheds
were In close succession, the lirst
calls lor the volunteers ol the home
town in several days. All three
trips were made. There was no
material harm done to either home
