church near Scio at 2 pjn. Novem-
ber 17, the Rev. Lei and Wllk-
erson of Lacomb and Providence
churches united in marriage Cyrus
Peery and Marguerltte Crane, both
of the Providence community.
This is said to have been the first
wedding ceremony solemnized at
the church, founded In 1863 by Joab
Powell, pioneer circuit rider, and
a few of his close associates.
Preceding the double-ring cere
mony Mrs. Wilkinson sang "O,
Promise Me," and Miss Florence
Matlcheck of Lebanon played the
march.
The church was profusely decor.
ated with evergreens and pink and
white chrysanthemums.
Miss Marie Hunt of Lebanon, a
classmate of the bride, attended the
latter, while Willie Madams offi
ciated as best man.
Mr. Peery is the son of Mrs. Grace
Peery and of the late Robert E.
Peery was reared near Providence.
He Is Identified with the Crown
Mining company and Is secretary of
the organization. He was a member
of Scio high school graduating class
of 1933.
Mrs. Peery is a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Lonnie Crane and was
graduated from Lebanon high
school last June.
The couple will make their home
on the Peery farm.

versary of Mr. and Mrs. Otto M.
Kunsman of Rosemont, Sunday, No
vember 10, when members of their
family and additional relatives, as
well as a large group of friends, as
sembled at the Kuniman home.
Mr, and Mrs. Kunsman entertain
ed at open house during the after
noon and evening. Refreshments
were served. The rooms were ar
tistically decorated with chrysan
themums and varied fall blossoms.

Sprague to Attend
Kanzler Funeral
Portland, Nov. 21 yp) Governor
Spragu said at Salem today ha
would come to Portland Friday for
tha funeral of Judge Jacob Kanz
ler. The governor said he had not yet
reached a decision on appointment
of a successor to Judge Kansler
but Indicated that this appoint
ment would be the only one he
would announce soon of a possible
three he Is considering.
He said he had reached no con
clusion on appointment of a circuit
judge in the probate department
of the Multnomah bench. Judge
Oeorge Taiwan's term expires In
January, but Judge John A. Mean,
elected to succeed him, was killed
recently In an automobile acci
dent. A controversy exists as to whether
or not Judge Taswell would continue
to serve until the 1942 election.
Governor Sprague said that In any
event It would be a month and a
halt before an appointment would
be necessary. At the same time
the governor said he was canvass
ing "informed opinion" In Multno
mah county relative to a demand ,
that the district court seat former
ly held by Judge Mean be left va
