Marjory Barr of Petaluma, Calif.

with an arrangement of hydran
geas, Coral Bells and larkspur. Aus
tralian and American flags were
placed at either end of the table.
Covers were placed for Miss Barr,

While In the capital the visitors
were entertained at dinner by Mr.
and Mrs. W. J. Hagedorn on Mon
day and were also entertained In
formally by Mrs. Paul Hauser and
Mr. and Mrs. Budd Warner of West
Balem. The travelers left Tuesday
tor Montana, where they will visit
relatives.
En route to Salem they visited In
Los Angeles with relatives, thence
to the Oolden Gate exposition in'
San Francisco and up the Redwood
highway.
Mr. Coyle Is editor of the Alta
Advertiser and Mr. 8tivers Is head
of the Charter Oak high school
music department.

Announces Betrothal
One of the delightful surprise
events of this week was the affair at
which Miss Barbara Anderson, dau
ghter of Mr. and Mrs. William B.
Anderson, of Salem, announced her
i engagement to William o. Neusch
Vwanger, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H.
Neuschwanger, of McMinnville.
Miss Frances Wlchert and Miss
Nedra McCall were hostesses for
the party which was given at the
home of Miss Wlchert in McMinn
ville. The announcement of the
coming betrothal was cleverly con
cealed within the Individual cakes
served at the close of the evening.
No date was disclosed for the wed
ding.

and Mrs. George J. Morris of Medford, and Edwin Minneman, son of Rev.
and Mrs. Amos E. Minneman of Salem, which will be an event of Sunday
at 13:15 o'clock at the Christ Lutheran

Disabled American Veterans of
the World War auxiliary business
meeting for July will be held at the
home of Mrs. Otto Mehlhoff, 1945
Berry street, July 22 at 8 p.m After
the business meeting refreshments
will be served.
Mrs. Verne Ostrander, national
executive commltteewoman, will be
present to accept all dues and mem
bership so that she can take a mem
bership quoto of '102 back to national
convention In Boston July 30.
Mrs. Ostrander Is leaving Sunday
and will -stop off at Boise, Idaho, to
pay an official visit at the Veter
ans' hospital there. She will also
stop off at, Caldwell, Idaho, to in
stall officers for the auxiliary.
For the August meeting a picnic
will be arranged.

Vows are Read
Miss Frances E. Wolfe, daughter
of Mrs.' James Wolfe of Salem, be
came the bride of Theodore DuFrain
of Sacramento, Friday In the chapel
of the First Presbyterian church In
Seattle with Dr. Martin Matthews
officiating at 4 o'clock.
The ceremony waa witnessed by
members of the two families. At
tending from Salem were Mrs. Jam
es Wolfe and the bride's brother and
sister, Kenneth Wolfe and Miss
Florence Wolfe. The couple was un
attended. A wedding supper at the home of
the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and
Mrs. John Lechner, followed the
ceremony. The couple left for a stay
at Lake Wilderness and will reside
in Salem at the Robert apartments.
Mrs. DuFrain attended Salem
schools and was formerly employed
at the secretary of state's office. Mr.
DuFrain is in business In Salem.

navy accessories.
Immediately following the wed
ding ceremony a wedding breakfast
will be held at the Argo hotel with
the wedding party and immediate
members of the family In attend
ance after which the couple will
leave for a wedding trip up the Ore
gon and Washington coasts.
For going away the bride has cho
sen a dark grey tailored ault with
a white lace blouse and white ac
cessories.
Following their wedding trip the
couple will make their home in Yak
ima where Mr. Minneman is branch
manager for the Oregonlan.
Both Miss Morris and Mr. Minne
man are graduates of Willamette
university, where they were promi
nent In student activities.
Miss Morris was a member of the
Beta Chi sorority and a member of
Little Theatre.
Mr. Minneman "'as assistant edi
tor of the college paper and a mem
ber of Tau Kappa Alpha, Theta Al
pha Phi and Blue Key. Last
year he studied at the Harvard Di
vinity school where he was awarded
a scholarship.

Zielinski Clan
Holds Reunion
The third annual reunion of the
ZKtjnskl family was held at Buell
park Sunday, July It. Dinner waa
served at the long tables at which
70 members were seated. Swimming
and sports were enjoyed in the af
ternoon. During the business meeting, new
officers were elected for the com
ing year. Joseph A. Zielinski of
Hael Green was elected president,
replacing Ed Zielinski of Sheridan.
Charles A. Zielinski was chosen
vice-president, replacing B. C, Zie
linski. Dorothy Zielinski was re
elected secretary and treasurer.
It was decided to hold the next
meeting, the third Sunday in July
next year at Hazel Green park.

young daughter, Sandra Kay, on her
second birthday anniversary Wed
nesday afternoon with a party. The
pink and white motif waa carried
out and gifts were presented after
a dessert luncheon.

evening meeting of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars auxiliary,- reports
were given of the state convention
at Pendleton by Mrs. Ruth McPlke,
Mrs. Edith Deverlcks and Mrs. Es
ther Long, local president.
The Sllverton unit was honored
with the presentation of the Bha-
doln memorial plaque, a gift to the
department by Mrs. Shadoln's
daughtera, in recognizing thelr
greatest gain In membership In the
state for the past year. A check for
$5 was also received by the group

Esther Long, president of the local
auxiliary, in her being elected de
partment conductress.
