Pauline Edwards waa crowned queen of the achool by Sunt. Mil ton E. Coe, and other f eatures of the program Included a atyle show by the home economics class, the May pole dance and mualo. consisting of a solo by Miss Irene Moore and selections by the high school band, the fife and drum corps, the drum and bugle corps, the Junior high achool boys' choir and the boys' quartet Another part of the pro tram was a skit from the junior class play. A large part of the day was de voted to sports, with an all-school track meet taking place In the morning and a baseball game be tween the varsity and the "B" squad In the afternoon. Others took part In Softball games, horseshoes, and In Indoor games In the gym. While the majority of the partici pant were boys, some girls took part In all games But tiara oese ball. The majority of the rural student visiting were members of the eighth grade who will attend Lebanon high next fall. A large number of these registered. Also on the order for the day was open house, with many parent In specting the various department and the exhibit of school work. Forum Closing Year Lebanon President Elmer Piu gerald ha announced that the last meeting of the year for the Lebanon Commercial club will be held at Hotel Lebanon Monday evening fol lowing a 6:80 o'clock banquet. All members are urged to attend. On the docket are report from the com mitt working on the berry festival and also of a committee that has ben working out plan to control solicitation of business house and residential district. Queen Race 8trt Lebanon The race for queen of the CrawfordsvUle Roundup will be gin next Saturday evening at Craw fordsvllle with the first dance sche duled to begin at nine o'clock. The Saturday night dance will be the first of a series lasting until the first of July when the winner of the queen honors will be named For the past two year Lebanon high achool student have been chosen to serve, the school being re presented this year by Lola Bow man, an attractive blonde. Home-School Group Affiliates Again Jefferson A fair slaed crowd at tended the regular May meeting of the Home-School organisation, held In the achool auditorium Thurs day evening. It this meeting it was voted to re-afflllate with the Parent-Teacher association. Officers for the next achool year were elected. Mrs. C. J. Thurston wa re-elected president Mrs. Irvine Wright was elected vice. president, and Mrs. Gilbert Looney was re-elected secretary and tree' aurer. The Room Improvement 4H club girls, under the leadership of Lots Miller, have been working to send one of their members to summer school at Corvallls, and lack a few dollars of having enough for a scho larship. The Home-School organl satlon voted at this meeting to make up the balance. The organisation had voted at a previous meeting to send one other 4-H club girl to Cor. vallls. At the close of the meeting a social hour was enjoyed. Churches at Dallas Will Honor Mothers Dallas A special program by the combined churches of the commun ity will be given at the high school auditorium Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock In observance of national music week. Merchandise special and a free show at the Majestic theatre on Saturday afternoon will feature two fiesta dsya arranged and promoted by the merchant and business men of the community on May 13 and 14. F. E. Ward, grocery manager for the C. L. Crider store for a number of years past, resigned hi position Wednesday afternoon. He will open a suburban grocery on the river road near the Klezer school north of Salem. Virgil L. McPherson, a member of the high school faculty, was elect ed president of the Oregon Normal school alumni at the annual meet ing recently. Other officers elected were Wilbur Rowe, vice-president; Mrs. Gordon Ebbert, secretary-treasurer, and Lelghton Dashlell, ser-geant-at-arms. Preston Doughton, assistant prin cipal of the high school, and Miss Haxel Plummer of Dallas and a se nior at OSC, were honored recently by their election to Phi Kappa Phi, national scholastic society. Hazel Green Makes Graduation Plans Hssel Oreen Final plans for the eighth grade graduation program have been made and the date set for the night of May 17, at 8 o'clock. A puppet show will be given by the members of the class asslated by the seventh graders. The show will be used on the familiar legend of Rip Van Winkle. E Boatrlght of Searcy, Ark., had an all day gather. Ing. all of them having been friends since youthful days. The Wolfers could not be there and missed all the details of how the Johns and Marys and their respective families had fared since they hsd grown up. The Garden tour came up for dis cussion and will be either May 33 or June S, depending on weather conditions. Daisy Bump was ap pointed to make all arrangements for the tour. Garden Tour Delayed Woodburn The garden tour plsnned by the Woodburn Qarden club for Tuesday evening haa been postponed on account of th sacred concert to be given by the Lutheran cholra of Woodburn and Monitor at the high achool that evening. Queen Lilith Neal To Rule May Fete Silverton Lilith Neal was elect ed queen of the May at a special election among the young women of the senior class of me high school during the week. Her prin cesses will be Ruth Nelson, Eleanor Bolme, Betty Francis and Beatrice Leonard. An afternoon of May day exer cises will be staged Friday, May 13. at McOlnnis field, with a free base ball game between 611verton and Dallas to be played. Special guest of the school for the dsy will be the eighth grde young people from the nearby rural districts. A full May day program is being arranged from all depart ments of school. Club Entertained Jefferson Mrs. Charles Hart. Jr., entertained the Wedding Ring club at her home Wednesday afternoon. At the close of the business meeting the afternoon wa spent socially. Msrquam The marriage of Fred Heider of Oregon City and Miss Jean Hani day, teacher in the local schools, on April 18. came as a surprise to their many friends. The Lloyd Larsons have moved to Sllverton Palls camp No. 18 from the Lima residence, for the logging season. The Oscar Gregersons have re turned from a visit with friends In Portland. A house guest of the Andrew Moores during the week was Mrs. H. Bsllangrud, formerly of Silver, ton. and now of Portland. Mrs. Lillle Jack has returned home from an extended visit with rela tives in Gladstone, Canby and Port, land. The local schools will close Wed nesday. Zahare Heads Club For Year Harel Green The community club held the final meeting of this sea son at the school recently with a fair sized crowd In attendance. The program was given under the direc tion of Mrs. Ralph Worden. club president, and was furnished by a group of students from the Chemawa Indian school. A boys' and girls' chorus gave a series of vocal selec tions and another group gave musi cal numbers under the direction of Prof. Ruthyn Turney. Readings were given by two students. Mill City Offered Music Week Program Mill City Mr. R, L, Schroeder will present a Music week program at the MiU City Church of Christ Tuesday evening. The public Is In vited to attend. Special numbers will be present ed at both the Church of Christ and the Presbyterian church on Sunday in commemoration of Mothers' day, as well as Music week. Current plans are to hold special May day ceremonies at the Mill City grade school next Monday.
