Mrs. Bertha Wilson Oanong of
Salem announces the marriage of
her daughter, Joanne St. Clair, to
Charles Edward Norton of Seattle.
The ceremony was said In Grace
cathedral In San Francisco, April 14.
Mrs. Norton attended Oregon
State college and is a member of
Alpha Chi Omega. Mr. Norton also
attended Oregon State and is affil
iated with Alpha Gamma Rho.
The couple will make their home
in Seattle following their wedding
trip.

The third district of the Oregon
Federation of Women's clubs will
hold Institute at Oswego Saturday,
April 33, from 9 until 4 o clock In
the Oswego school. Educational
problems of club work will be ta

board will meet at Oswego. Mrs.

W. C. T. U. Hears
Of Foreign Work
The 8alem W.C.T.U. met at the
headquarters Tuesday for an inter
esting meeting. Mrs. J. J. Nunn
presided and devotions were led
by Mrs. A. V. Evans. The program
was devoted to temperance and
missions.
Mrs. Ruth Tooze gave a report
on work in foreign lands and Mrs.
Nunn spoke of work done among
the American Indians, Mrs. Tooze
also spoke concerning the Youth
Temperance Council and the Loyal
Temperance union and the growth
of both groups.

Is Honored Guest
Mrs. Beryl Birch entertained In
formally Monday afternoon with a
miscellaneous shower honoring Mrs
David Hubbard, who was Miss Mar
garet Moore prior to her marriage
last month.
Easter appointments, tulips and
hyacinths formed the decorative
motif about the rooms. At the tea
hour Mrs. Birch was assisted by
her daughter. Miss Imogens.

Spring Garden Club
Show Opens Saturday
The annual spring flower show, sponsored by the Salem Oarden
club, will be held Saturday and Sunday in the show room of the Val
ley Motor company with the Interested public Invited to attend. There
will be no charge. Salem flower lover and many from out-of-town are
expecting to enter exhibit. Commercial grower will also exhibit.

grown by the person exhibiting with
one entry In each class allowed each
exhibitor. Exhibitor must provide
container and all arrangement
must be in place by Saturday noon.

MacDowell Concert
Event of Tonight
Tonight the Salem MacDowell
club will give its closing concert of
the year with the Portland Cham
ber Music trio as assisting artists.
Gladys Mclntyre Thomas, well-
known Salem vocalist, will have a
solo part In "One Fine Day" and
Duet of the Flowers." Japanese
costumes and cherry blossoms will
make a colorful scene in the num
bers from Madam Butterfly.
A reception at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. C. A. Sprague will follow
the concert.

The Alpha Phi Alpha Mother'
club was entertained with a dessert
luncheon at the chapter house Tues
