Miss Helen Laureaard, formerly of
Salem, daughter of the Olaf Laur
aards, became the bride of Joseph
Eliot Keyser, aon of Mr. and Mm.
Charlei P. Keyser, at a oertroony
solemnised at 4 o'clock last Sunday
afternoon In the Church of Our
Father tn Portland. Rev. Mr. atelner
read the Impressive service.
The bride was given In marriage
by her father. She wore a floor-
length model of aquamarine satin,
fashioned with draped sleeves and
neck. Her turban was of the same
material and she carried pyre the
urns and yellow orchids.
Miss Peggy Munger of Salem was
the honor attendant. She wore a
floor-length gown of old rose ribbed
taffeta and carried a bouquet of
violets and freesias.
Blake Hopwood served as best
man and ushers Included Theodore
Crawford and Alex Culbert&on.
A reception followed in the Chan
nlng room of the church. Later the
couple left for a wedding trip to
California.
Mrs. Keyser attended the Univer
alty of Oregon, where she was af
filiated with Delta Oamma. She
later was a member of the Oregon
8tate library staff. Mr. Keyser at
tended the University of Oregon
and studied in Paris and Home.
Junior Club to
Have Guest Night
All members of the Salem Jun
ior Woman's club are asked to meet
promptly at 8- o'clock at the club
house next Monday evening to re
ceive their quota of ticket to sell
for the annual St Valentine's ball
which will be an event of Satur
day, February 6.
The meeting will be a "guest
nlght"and members may bring
friends. Mrs. Olive Doak Bynon of
the Red Cross will speak on "Co
operation Between Social Agencies
and Service Groups." A musical
program has also been arranged,
featuring Miss Josephine Bross, who
will sing several numbers.

25th Anniversary
The prlngle Pleasant Point club
celebrated Its 25th anniversary at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Webster Thursday afternoon. It was
the same house the first meeting
was held In 25 years ago.
Mrs. J. N. Robertson, the club's
first president, and Mrs. L. W. Pot
ter, the second president, were preS'
ent.
The six charter members of the
club were given corsages by the club
members They Include Mrs. J. N.
Robertson, Mrs. L. W. Potter, Mrs.
E. S. Coates, Mrs. E. O. Clark, Mrs.
W. H. Orabenhorst and Miss Grace
Robertson.
The table was centered with a
tiered cake decorated In silver. Red
tapers guarded the arrangements.

son of Mrs. Clara Chapelle of
Woodbum, were married at the
home of the bride's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Anderson, In Gor
don. Neb- January 12.
The wedding was held at the
Gordon Church of God with Rev.
R. A. Germany, the pastor, offici
ating. Attendants were Miss Ber-
ntce Schneider and Verlln Hutton,
both of Gordon. The bride wore
dark gray Ullleur with blue acces
sories and a shoulder corsage of
roses, sweet peaa and violets.
Mrs. Chapelle has lived in Wood
bum for the past 18 months and
Mr, Chapelle has lived here most of
his life. He was graduated from
Woodbum high school tn 1926. Mrs.
Chapelle Is a graduate of the Gor
don high school. Mr. and Mrs.
Chapelle returned to Woodbum
Sunday and will make their home
here.

Fete Grand Chief
AlbanyAlpha Temple, No. 1, of
the Pythian Sisters, which met In
regular session Tuesday evening,
made tentative plans to entertain
the grand chief, Clara Moss of All
oc, who will make an official visit
to Albany temple February 1.
A no-hostess dinner will be given
In the visitor's honor preceding the
temple session, with Mrs. Loren Wil
son, Mrs. Albert Lester Sender and
Mrs. John Bryant as the committee
In charge. Initiation will feature
the temple session.
At the close of the meeting a lun
cheon was served to 40 members by
Mrs. E. G. Arnold, Mrs. W. H. Wat
son and Mrs. Charles Kelly.
The Wobomku Campflre Girls
group met Monday night at the
home of Mrs. Paul Moras tn Court
street Mrs. Morse is the former
guardian of the group and Mrs. Jo
seph Felton was Introduced as the
new guardian.

early education In schools here
while her father was pastor of the

Guild Meets
A group met Monday evening
when the Misses Helen Infrey and
Faith Friday entertained at the
tatter's homo in north Bummer
street.
The group completed the organ
isation of a unit of the Wealeyan
Service guild, a business and pro
fessional women's organisation of
the Methodist Episcopal church.
This unit Is sponsored by the Les-
Memorlal M, K. church. It is
the second one to organise In Salem,
the other being under the auspices
of the Jason Lee Memorial M. B.
church.
Mrs. Ruth Norrls led the guild
devotional service ritual and Mrs.
Wilbur Ankeny presented the mis
sionary lesson, telling of the mission
work of the two mother societies,
the Woman's Home Missionary soci
ety, and the Woman's Foreign Mis
sionary society of the Methodist
church.
During the business session offi
cers were elected: President, Mrs.
Ruth Norrls; corresponding secre
tary, Mrs. E. Ogdon; recording sec
retary, Faith Friday; treasurer, La-

Meets at Silverton
Silverton The regular meeting of
the Veterans of Foreign Wars aux
iliary was held Wednesday evening
at the armory club rooms.
At the sewing club held at the
home of Mrs. M. 8. Chandler with
Mrs.. L. Deve ricks and Mrs. L. W.
Coughennower as co-hostesses, scrap
books and face masks for the hos
pital were made. Twenty-four masks
were completed and sent to the
veterans' hospital at Portland and
more will be finished later. Mrs.
Arthur Nelson Is sewing club chair
man assisted by Mrs. L. A. Stand'
ard and Mrs. J. A. Seeley.
An aU-day quilting bee will be
held at the home of th. auxiliary
president, Mrs. A. P. Bolle, on Tues
day, January 25, with a no-hostess
dinner to be served at noon. All
members are urged to attend.
