Nile Club
Entertained
Wednesday
One of tho most Interesting par
ties of the year for the Salem club,
Daughters of the Nile, was the
bridge luncheon held Wednesday at
the home of Mrs. R. W. Hans Belts,
with Mrs. V. E. Kuhn, Mrs. Charles
EtricUin, Mrs. Curtis Johnson and
Mrs. Fred ElUs as the committee In
charge. The club group also was
entertained Informally In the at
tractive gardens at the Seltz home
and with viewing the Interesting craft
work and the many art curios made
by Dr. and Mrs. Beits.
Bowls of purple Iris and lilacs, of
Yellow duronicum and lavendar cell-
la, and colorful French bouquets
were used eliectlvely about the uv
lng rooms of the Seltz home, and
the large dining table was centered
with a bowl of narclsus, pink tu
lips and crabapple blossoms flank
ed by pink tapers. .
Covers at the luncheon were

bard Woman's club and the local

session. A social afternoon follow
ed, with the assistant hostesses,
Mrs. George H. Alden, Mrs. C. F.
Wilson and Miss Laura Hale as
sisting Mrs. Hale in. serving re
freshments at small tables each
centered with a bowl of ltlies-of-,
the-valley. Baskets of lilacs and
snapdragons were used about the
living rooms. Seventeen members
of the circle were present.
Mrs. Eugene Gibson and Mrs.
Chadwlck, both of Portland, were

Party Monday-

Hawaiian bridge party Monday
night at the home of Mrs. Kron on
South 23rd street. Five tables of
bridge were in play In rooms decor
ated with spring flowers and Scotch
broom. Favors, prizes and card ac
cessories were from Hawaii, and
Hawaiian refreshments were served
at the close of the evening of
bridge.
Miss Etta White received the high
score prize for the evening, and the
consolation prize went to Miss Bet
ty Vance.

flanked by green tapers, had covers
placed for Dr. and Mrs. David Ben
nett Hill, Miss Dorothy Travis, Miss
Helen Hiller and Mrs. Violet Fieser,
all special guests for the evening;
and for the club group, the Misses
Esther Erickson, Velma Rominger,
Irene deLlsle, Ola Hughes, Mar
cella Caspell, Norma Sutherland,

Bridge Tea Friday

benefit bridge tea to be given by
St. Paul's Junior Guild Friday
afternoon at the attractive country
home of Mrs. Homer Gouley.
Twenty-five tables of cards are ex
pected to be In play, and additional
guests will call for the program and
tea hour.
The benefit, annually sponsored
by the Junior Guild, attracts num
erous prominent guests from other
Willamette valley communities.

Hubbard Mr. and Mrs. A. L.
Malloy, recently married, were hon
ored with a surprise party after the
meeting of Arion Temple, ' Pythian
Sisters, of which Mrs. Malloy Is a
past chief. A gift from the temple
was presented them by Mrs. Wilma
Leffler. After the card games a
