purchase them for the use of law

cuit court then the circuit coudt
has the right to designate their
use and where the books shall be

then it was an unwarranted use of
the public funds and members of

Eyerly said Wednesday that the
fees charged by airports over the
country vary widely both as to na
ture and amount A few charge
landing fees, particularly to com
mercial planes, practically all charge
storage fees for overnight stops,
and it Is general practice to take a
percentage of tne fares collected ny
planes carrying passengers on snort
trips from the field. The only fees
so far collected at tne airport were
a percentage from such a "barn
storming" plane, although Eyerly
said that they have had a private
plane in storage in the hangar
during the winter upon which
storage charges will be due when
It is taken out.
While there is no expectation In
any quarter that the fees possible
of collection for use of the airport
during the first two or three years
will equal the bond interest and
sinking fund requirements. It Is
anticipated that they will increase
steadily with natural seasonal fluc
tuations and should amount to con
siderable during the summer
months it a schedule ot charges is
fixed.
Now firmly established, the Oak
land, canr., port is collecting re
venues to the amount of $5000 a
month. Eyerly said, who also ex
pressed tlie opinion that the city
must expect to subsidise the port
during the period ot its develop
ment.
Installation of the border lights
will aid materially In increasing
the business of the locsl port, Ey
erly believes, In that it will bring
the equipment of tne port up to
standard requirements ana piaee
it on the official national airways
map.
All bills paid from the airport
fund since January 1 were on con
tracts performed before the first of
the year and their payment was
authorized by the general airport
committee of council, chamber of
commerce and American Legion
members that was In charge of air
port affairs prior to January 1.
Those payments aggregated 1508832.
Since the balance In the fund at
the first ot the year was only $5027.

overdraft of 160.97.
The original airport bond fund a-

There was ft refund on gasoline
amounting to $69.80, rental on a
gasoline pump of $1 and fee rev
enues from flyers using the field
of $15, making the total receipts
$48,928.30.
Expenditures from the fund were:

hangar, $10,752.90; purchase ot land,
$22,708; labor and engineering, ar
chltect'a fees, clearing, drainage and
part of apron construction, $9427.96;
cement for apron, $1331.08; gaso
line and oil. $768.75; tractor, $1620;
printing bonds, opinion on bonds
and advertising bonds, $302.75: in
suranee. $302.41: fencing, $167.25;
supplies, tools, etc., $1045.12; plumb
ing, $258.65; scraper, $281. Total,
$48,988 87. .
This total Is In excess of the or
iginal amount ot receipts by $60.57.
It hasn't been considered neces
sary that the above payments be
approved by the new committee on
airports and aviation mat nas ex
isted since the first of the year
since they all applied to matters
disposed ot prior to that time. Bills
are now coming In, however, mat
will have to have the consideration
