Another Important piece ot road
work which may go ahead is that
between Oates and Niagara, a dis
tance of eight miles, but this Is not
properly on the market road pro
gram, being more in the nature of
a relocation project and this de
pends on the ironing out of right
of way difficulties.
Th same Is true with other pro
tects and some of them have some
serious right of way matters to be
determined on before work finally
goes ahead, but it is believed in most
Instances the problems may be
solved before time to work on the
roads arrives.
While it is likely some paving may
be done this year, the court is not
ready to commit Itself In any way
on any paving project.
Petition for some paving has Just
been received from a large number
of residents on the Frultland road
who ask for pavement iwm Mi''

sible. They stat. that their Is a
heavily traveled road and that pav

pany demonstrate the effectiveness
of its Improvements, that. If the
illter plant is unsuccessful, the ex
pense would then be upon the water
company Instead of the city, that
the Improvement, now going on
are providing labor for a large num
ber of men, and that the bono
market now is not auch that the
city should take any action requir
ing a bond uwue.
Alderman Olson, chairman of the
utilities committee, moved adoption
of the report and Townwnd second
ed it. Dnncy moved that the bank
ers' report be substituted. Kowitz

that the bankers were not part of
th. utilities committee and that
the two reports were not In the
nature of a divided report, Dancy
admitted that Kowlts was correct,
but said the bankers' committee was
appointed not to advise the com
mittee only but the entire council.
