OF OFFICERS The Cnemeketana, Salem's hik ing club, which ha frown in on year from nothing to an organiza tion which rank well with the Port land Minmu anil - the - Seattle Mountaineers, began the work of closing rU first year when the exec utive council met Tuesday evening to make plant for the election of new officers October 7. The president, Dr. Vernon A. Douglas, appointed Edwin M. Hoff nell chairman of the committee d judge the election. His assistant Judges will be Mary McElroy, Don Wiggins, Echo Balderee and La villa Perry. Eighteen names have been nominated and nine officers will be selected from this group. George Pake, chairman. Bessie Smith and L. L. Laws were appoint ed an auditing committee. Several constitutional amendments were al so discussed. The next Chemeketan hike will be taken Sunday up the Silver Creek district. Cars win leave the Y. af. C. A. building at eight o'clock Sun day morning and will drive to the power house a short distance east ot Sllverton. Here the trail will be taken up the creek to the 811- verton water Intake. The hike Is 8 miles long. Cars will take the blk en around the Silver Creek falls loop and back to Sllverton for swim ming In the Sllverton park and a lunch there. Catherine Gaylor and Clara Larson will be leaders.
