SENATORS QUIT
VALLEY LEAGUE
At a meeting of local club offi
cials last night It was offi
cially decided to disband the Salem
senators baseball team for the rest
of the season. Insofar as the busi
ness organization Is concerned.
Lack of support on the part of lo
cal fans was given as the reason for
this' action. The games remaining
on the Willamette Valley - league
schedule will be forfeited.. -
Leo "Frisco'' Edwards, manager
of the Senators heretofore under the
direction of the club managers, an
nounced after the meeting that he
would personally take over the team
for the remainder of the first half
of the season. There are three games
yet to be played, one here against
Cottage Grove next' Sunday, one
with Bend at Bend and a postponed
game to be played at Wendllng. As
the home team takes all the gate
receipts, indications are that Ed
wards will not have a gold mine In
his venture. By playing the remain
ing games, however, the club's fund
of $160 deposited with the league
will not be loneitea.

"I know, after the first few holes, whether
or not I'm going to be good . . . and
when I was blindfolded and given four
cigarettes to smoke, I chose Old Gold
because the first few puffs told me that
, this cigarette was right! I knew that it was
going to be good. Like the effortless, easy
wing of a fine golf er,Ou Gold's delightful
smoothness tells a story of perfect form."
