KEEP STATIONS
Who Is supposed to be looking
after the maintenance of the city
comfort stations at High and State
streets. The city council or the
American legion?
When Alderman Hal D. Pat ton
last night asked the city council to
provide $200 to clean up the rest
rooms, Alderman Purvine objected,
declaring that the American Legion
and not the city were taking care
pi the rest rooms.
It was recalled that when the
city council last winter was wrest
ling with the budget problem and
about to eliminate the band con
certs and the comfort stations the
Legion came to the rescue and offer
ed to pay the expense. The city
accepted the oner.
PAVING FAVORED
The street committee reported fav
orably last night on the following
street improvement petitions: Alley
lh block 24, Maple avenue from
South street to Church street, Mil
ler from Saginaw to a point 200
feet south of Fail-mount, alley In
block 2 of Watts addition, 20th
street from Nebraska to D, North
Church street from Highland to
South, Jefferson from Winter to
Capitol.
The proposal of V. E. Stoliker to
establish a' pool hall at 347 North
High street did not coma to an issue
last night, for Stoliker requested
that his application for a license be
witnarawn by the license commit'
tee. This application was protest
ed by city school Superintendent
Hug and Principal J. C. Nelson of
the high school on grounds that the
location was too near the hiph
scnooi.
The sewer committee of the coun
cil recommended favorably on peti
tion for a sewer for blocks 3 and 4,
Yew Park nddltton and the city en-
giNeer was instructed to dra,v the
necessary plans and specifications.
The same committee recommended
that the city cooperate in the drain
age of the district south of Cross
street and the report was adopted
ZONE CHANGE VOTED
A petition was received asking for
the installation of a street light at
locust and Fourth streets.
The council adopted finding? of
tne city planning commission rec
ommending that lots 1, 2 and 3 In
block 89 be Included In a class 3 in
stead of a class 1 district.
