Mrs. Floyd Egorton has return
ed to Salem after an extended stay
in Puyallup. Wash., and" will be
the guest until next week of her
mother, Mrs. George Rose. On
Wednesday of the coming weel
ihe will return to her home In Los
Angeles.
Mrs. W. H. Lang, of Onkland,
California, and Mrs. Ellen Merrill,
of Long Prialrie, Minnesota, who
have been guests for several weeks
of their sisters, Mrs. W. N. Savage
and Mrs. George Savage, have re
turned to their homes.

Mrs, Chloe Nero, manager of the
Salem Artist Series,. . arrived In
town last night, and today opened
permanent offices In tho Sherman
Clay Music store In preparation for
the' final detail work in the pre
sentation of the four concerts at
the Elsinore during the coming
season which will bring artists of
International fame to local audi
ences. . -'
By the latter part" of the' week
holders of. season tickets will be
able to secure seat reservations
from Mrs. Nero who may be reach'
ed at any time at the Sherman
Clay store or the Marlon hotel.
The concert by the Ultranian na
tional .chorus, . of world renown,
will be the first of the series and
will be given early in December.
Ronald Werrenrath, baritone, and
Cecilia Hanson, violinist, will ap
pear in January. The date of the
fourth concert, that of Ernst von
Dohnanyl,. has not been chosen,
Organized groups of the city
most active in the support of the
series include the Lions club, the
Civic Music club, and the Bee
thoven society of Willamette uni
versity. Letters received recently by Sa
lem relatives from Mr. and Mrs.
William McGtlchrist, Jr.,. who are
taking a trip around the world
this fall and winter, tell of extreme
ly interesting trips through Scot
land and England. Because they
were unable to see as much o
London as they wished - durfn;
their first stop-over there, they re
turned to England after a four
weeks' stay In Scotland. They
celebrated Mr. McClllchrlst's birth
day at his birthplace in Scotland
and have been visiting relatives
there. In letters they nartlcularly
mention visiting Westminster Ab
bey, the British Museum, and th
famous old tower. In London.
On December 12 Mr. and Mrs,
McGilchrist will sail from Oibral
ter for their continued world
cruise.

The meeting of Chemeketa chap
ter, Daughters of tho American
Revolution, previously announced
for the coming Saturday, has. been
postponed until the first Saturday
In November because of the ollver
anniversary of the Salein Woman1
club next Saturday.
