been completed, it was announced

younger brothers and keep them
in school. Victims of the separa
tion of their parents and a dis
rupted home the boys have been
fighting an uphill battle that at
times has seemed almost hopeless.
The younger boys are also being
outfitted by Santa's volunteers.
Five Have Diphtheria
Another call that is demanding
the disbursement, of a generous
slice of the Christmas fund is the
case of a widow trying to clothe,
feed and educate five small child
ren. By skimping and dose plan
ning, and the aid of one of the
older boys who sold newspapers,
she was able to keep the two ends
of adverse circumstances from
drifting too wide apart. Then
one of the little ones came down
with diphtheria and quarantine
shut off their only means of sup
port. Now all of the children
are down with the disease.
Friends and neighbors have
been doing what they can to aB
sist, and a group of business girls
who had undertaken to give the
Christmas gift needs of the little
ones have been straining thoir
resources to help. But tho load
was becoming too heavy for them
and this morning and tho Christ
mas Cheer Movement stopped in
to provide the food, clothing, fuel
ana other necessities that are
needed In the battle for the health
and even the lives of those kid
dies.

Those are a few of the answers
that are made by tho sponsors
or the Christmas Uhoor Move
ment to the querrlcs as to what
need inspires Its repeated pleas
for money and more money.
It is not just a problem of pro
viding Christmas toys and trin
kets for tho children. They also
must be clothed and fed whero
the need for such measures is
found. The gift packages, the
dinner baskets and tho Christmas
tree- for all the kiddles must be
provided, but before that the hun
ger and cold which gnaws at them
daily must be relioved.

of them of serious character as
far as shown on tho police rec
ords, were reported late yester
day and today Several of the
accidents were caused hy obscur
ed vision due to rain on wind
shields. No injuries are recorded
as resulting from any of the mis
