Many motor cars were stranded
about the streets as tho raging
waters stalled engines. Throughout
the business portion of tho city the
water flooded over the curblngs
and swept into the ground floors
of stores and other buildings. Many
establishments were forced to clone
for the day.
Destruction Widespread
Trees, shrubbery, electric light

the residential section of Tampa,
while downtown, signs, smoke
stacks and wooden awnings were
blown down. The utilities com

Santa was first persuaded to
come to Oregon with his reindeer
by the Portland Journal., Salem
is the only city in Oregon which
Santa will 'have a chance to visit
in daylight with the exception, of
course, of Portland. He is taking
time for the Salem visit because
he doesn't think it would be po

Not even with a circus has a
live domesticated reindeer ever
visited Oregon, except, of course,
on Christmas eve when old Santa
skims over the house tops of all
the good little children of all the
