Willard DeYoe, new pastor of the
Leslie MethodlBl church, as he
opened his sermon on "The Keys
of the Kingdom,' tiundny. I am
a Catholic a real, lull fledged
Catholic. I say so every Sauoatii
morning in my service and I mean
lvhat i suy. 1 am a uutnoiic and
believe in the literal interpretation
of my text, 'I wilt give unto thoe
the keys to the kingdom of heaven
and whatsoever thou shult loose on
earth, snail be loosed in heaven,
"I am a preacher of the gospel
and have been for years, and I
liould bate fearfully to awaken to
the fact that I did not have posses-
lion of the keys to the kingdom of
heaven. God rtve them to me
years before I was an ordainod
minister, and I have kept them
sacredly and used them for Hie
glory and the salvation oi men.

asked them to avoid in opening lo
men and women dead in sin and
trespasses and break tho 'hands'
that 'bound' then, to that life of
in. This is the power that Christ
gives to every evangelical Chris
tian. Therefore. I could not say
too much regarding our responsi
bility. "It would be a most wonderful
thing If you could pay tho preach
er or the priest for such work,
but you cannot You cuu never
pay me one cent for any sermon I
ever preached while hero, or any
pastoral work that I may do.
"You have tho keys to the king
dom and Cod expects you to loose

any damage that the cutting of
these small treed does to the for-
csta, the United Statca forest serv
ice stated today in endorsing the
tinsel-bearer of the yuletlde.
As a matter of fact, the service
pointed out, the annual harvest of
Chirstmas trees is exceeded many
times by those lined In the manu
facture of toothpicks.
Roughly estimated eix million
evergreens coneilute the yearly
cut of Christmas treee, all of
which could he produced on six
thousand acres of land. The serv
ice compares this area with the
14,000,000 acres that are swept
each year by forest fires.
IOWA SLAYER IS HANGED

was hanged tit the state prison
here at 7:31 a. in. today for the
murder of Or ton Ferguson, a Mich
igan tourist at a West Liberty

Upton, state senator from Des
chutes, Crook, Klamath and Lake
counties, Friday night announced
himself as a caudidate for gov
ernor in the republican primaries
next May.
Reduction of automobile licenses

among the policies outlined In an
informal statement issued.

traveling over unpaved highways
