"With the Oregon prune crop In
tho hands of growers virtually
cleaned up, probably not more than
a million hounds or the 20,000,000
pound crop remaining in tneir
hands, a slight firming tendency
Is indicated.
This may be a reaction follow
ing a firming tendency on Calif or-
nUiet, California 30s showing up
lighter than expected with u ro
ault that they have gono back up
to within a half a cent of the op
ening prices, when they had once
dropped a full cent below the op
ening. California 40s arc now a
cent under the opening, 60s or
a cent under; 60s half a cent un
der and 70s and smaller have gone
back to the opening prices where
they are being firmly maintained.
Oregon Is long on 30s this year
which may have been partially the
reason for California taking their
drop, but the estimate on Califor
nia 30s earlier in the season was
said to have been much larger
than the crop actually developed,
Which also had Its effect on the
early weakening of the market on
them.
The Robert C. Paulus company
la packing out and shipping a con
siderable quantity of extra fancy
pack under their new Luke wood
brand. The pack Is being put up
In sanded boxes, Faulus stating
that quito a heavy demand has de
veloped for this extra fancy pack
and there are prospects for a good
trade in It.
