Cal Herman, Salt Lake fighter
and Frankie Lewis of Salem fought
ten rounds to a draw last night In
the opening boxing card of the
enson. Herman tipped the scales
t 145 and Lewis at 130. The fight
was even all the way through with
neither battler having much advan
tage. Herman did most of the
leading with Lewis waiting to land
a go dohard blow. Not once did
I, wis back up but he wan unable to
find the clever little Salt Lnker
where he expected him to be.
Lewis landed one good hard
blow in the third round but Her
man came right back. Herman
was lota faster than the Indian
fighter although he lacked tho wal
lop that Lewis carries. Lewis Is
not slow by any means nnd Is able
to step around right lively but
Herman had the best of this de
partment. Lewis did not seem to
to In as good condition as in sev
eral of his former fights. Ho ap
peared to have only his left hand
Jn the first few rounds but got
better as the fight progressed. Nov
man made him miss repeatedly.
In the seventh round the Salt
leaker called for Lewis to get In
and fight. Tho eighth round
started out rather snappy but nelth
r side got the best of it. The Inst
two rounds were about even and
neither man was taking a chance
of getting knocked down with a
chance of getting a slight decision.
The fight did not quite measure up
to the par of bouts staged last sea

Garth of Butte, In the fourth
round of a scheduled six round
fight. Garth put up a good fight
but Hunt's weight was too much
for him. Garth landed severnl harcU
blows but wag unable to follow
through for another one. Each of
tho fighters landed hard at the end
of tho third round. In the fourth
round Garth rocked Hunt and they
both enmo together, Garth was
hit hard at the same time and went
to the canvas for the count of
nine. Ho got up but It was plain
thnt he was out. Hunt floored him
again. He tried to get up at the
count of nine but couldn't make It.

cellent program rendered last Sun
day at the Hazel Green church.
It was worthy of note that all of
the speakers were present and the
delegated and viistora In attend
ance found the addresses' and dem
onstrations very helpful and also
uplifting spiritually. It is to be
regretted that several of the su
perintendents nnd teachers of the
district Bible schools were not
present to give their appreciation
to the speakers and to receive the
inspiration thoughts and ideas so
manifest in the various addresses
and class demonstrations through
out the entire day.
The entertaining school and
church Is to be congratulated on
the faithfulness of their pastor,
Hev. Miss Leila LucKey, and their
primary teacher, Mrs. C. L. Von
Cleave, and also Mrs. Tom Van
Cleave, who devoted so much time
16th of October. He will be able
to tell better as the season goes
along and will have better fights.
