IN OREGON OVER

Portland, Or., Aug. 28. A list
of the 25 highest peaks or moun
tains in Oregon was today tsaued
by the United States forest serv
ice. Twenty-four of thera are found
within national forests. There are
seven glacier peaks In the list.
There are five peaks more than
10,000 feet nnd 17 more than 9000
feet elevation, and none below
8500 feet. Strange oa it may seem.
14 of these hih peaks a,re found
m eastern Oregon, eight within
the Whitman national forest, five
within tho Wallowa and one In
the Malheur forest.
These figures on elevation are
the result of observations of cith
er the Uutted States coast and
geodetic survey or the United
States geological survey.
The peaks, heights aud loca
tions follow:
Mt. Hood, 11,225 feet (glacier),
Mt. Hood; Mt. Jefferson, 10,522
feet (glacier), Mt. Hood; South
Sister, 10,325 feet, (glacier), Des
chutes; North Sister, 10,009 feet.
