Phillips, both of whom were In
the car with Sumigren. PUlllipa

Going south on their way from
Portland to Eugene, they were ap
proaching the bridge Jufit north
of Aurora, rounding the bend
thero shortly after 8 o'clock. A
car coming north approaches
them, tho driver not only failing
to dim his lightB but . crowding
t hem to the edge of the road.
Phillips slowed down ua rapidly as
noseible but, blinded by the glar
ing headlights, inadvertantly
caused his car to ewerve into the
guard railing. The Jar caused two
boxes of peaches, being carried tn
the rear seat, to ewing against
Sandgreu so forcibly that it knock
ed him from his seat.
Olb on. sitting in the front seat,
was slightly scratched. Phillips
was unhurt, llv urougbt the car
to a slop some 20 feet from the
point where it struck the guard
rail. The car which had caused
the damage did not stop.
