IN SUNDAY PLAY
The annual flag day tournament
held at the Illihee country club
Sunday was a great success, accord
ing to Graham Sharkey, profession
.il of me club A. C. Bailey was
winner of the event, carrying his
ball around the holes and ending
up on the first green again. "When
ho finished up at the home tee, he
still had three strokes left over
which carried him to the edge of
the first green. F. -A. Elliott, state
forester, finished up at the home
tee with throe strokes left over.
The three strokes only carried him
about 100 yards from the green of
the first tee. .
Tom iVoods, made a good show
ing by driving 269 yards, the long
est drive of his career. Soveral
other good drives were made dur-
ng the course of the meet. Most
of the rMt or the players finish
ed up on the last green or the last
fairway. Sixteen members of the
club entered the meet.
Next Sunday the local club will
meet the strong Albany team on
the Illihee course. Albany has
strong team and the locals will
have to practice hard to get a win
over them. ' Several other meets
have been arranged by Rex San'
ford, for the coming two months.
