dle west and the Rocky mountain
areas with a Paavo Nurmi-like
regularity, the weather bureau
guardians having to dig back in

as the summer sun nticed the mer
cury towards Its apogee.
Salt Lake City, Pocatello, Reno,
Nev., and Lander. Wyo., experien
ced the hottest day esterday since
weather bureau figures havo beon
kept while another hot blast broke
records for all time in central an l
northern Tesas.
At Wichita Falls, Texas, the of
ficial temperatures was 109, while
marks of 10( to 108 were common
in Texas. The mark of 105.5 nt
Dallas shattered all heat records
for the city, although a light
shower ther.j and at other points
in the .state brought some relief.
