All of the fighters who are to
participate In the Fourth of July
boxing match at Newport are 'i
the best of shape according to n
nouncement made yesterday af tar
noon by H. H. Schocker, match'
maker. They have been working
hard for their coining buttle and
are all ready to step Into the ring.
The boxers will arrive in New
port, Friday afternoon at 4:30
o'clock, and will go through a
light workout in the evening.
Frankfe Lewis and George Ingcr
oll are to ir-eet in the ten-round
main event which given promise of
being a hummer. Billy Welch of
Astoria and John Boyce of Spo
kane are to meet in the six-round
cemi-windup. Rmtsy Green of Sa
lem and Harry Davis of Astoria
are to meet in one of the scheduled
four-round preliimnariea.

ed. The arena, Is to have n seat
ing capacity of 3000. Tickets are
going good no far nnd it is expect
ed that they wl'.l have a record

They are also planning on hav
ing a wrestling match for the 5th
of July, although they have noth
ing definite planned as yet. Thy

the office of the land settlement

cated on the land in various parts
of the Btate, representing a capi
tal Investment of over $150,000.
W. G. Ide, manuger, state that
complete reports for the month
have not yet been received from
the various counties, and that iio
duubt tills number will be great
ly increased.
Thirteen settlers have been re
ported for Josephine county, one
tor Kiamath, one lor Deschutes,
and ten by the Czecbo-Slovak
chamber of commerce of Chicago,
