PRODUCE CLOSES
WEEK STEADY IN
Portland. June 20 Local pro
duce markets closed .generally
steady after a firm and active
week. Offerings have been good in
practically all lines but etockH
moved out promptly under a brisk
demand.
On the dairy exchange butter
nd ogga closed steady and un
changed. Kxtru cube butter was
agiiin posted at 44 emits, stand
ards at 44 and prime flints at 4!1.
Prints advanced 2 cents during the
week, closing at the 46 cunt level.
Fata followed both advances with
bids now 44 cents f. o. b. shippers
track in zone ono. The butter
market is in a healthy condition
with a firm nndortone apparent.
Kgga alHo show a healthy tone
with receipts absorbed promptly
for storage and shipping. Extras
closed at 37 cents' on the exchange,
firsts 36 cents and pullets 33 cents.
Current receipts are posted at 32 'A
cents not. Continued advances In
the eastern market are a Btrength
ining factor In the local situation.
Along the street country dress
ed meats closed nominally steady.
Arrivals today wore only moderate
end there was nothing ot speak of
carried over. The past we i has
been bad for meat shipments on
account of the hot weather. Choice
veal genorally ruled around 1 2 V4 to
13 cents. Choico light hogs sold
at 17 to 18 cents.
Poultry receipts were good thru
out the week and commission ino
had a hard time working off light
hens and ducks. Heavy hens and
prlngs cleaned up fairly well,
prices at the close today were:
light hens lCc; heavy hens 22 to
33c; springs 21 to 24c; ducks nom
inal at 20 cent.
With the wool market showing
an Improved tono and prices high
er, growers In the Pacific north
west are more In the mood to eell
now than they have been for weeks
Eastern markets are stendlly Im
proving and with nearly all grades
of wools higher, local buyers are
In position to boost their offers for
clips. Some of the growers are
till holding for a higher market
but most of the holders are In
clined to take advantage of the re
. jnt advances. Tre E. J. Burke
company purchased the McKregory
clip of 150.000 pounds yesterday.
Prices paid were not made public
but are well up in the current
range of values. The wool will be
hipped to Portland.
