The response of Dallas citizens
in offering rooms in their homes
to delegates has been generous.
Almost halt of the number re

more rooms at tht dishposal of the
rooming committee before the end
of next week.
The chairmen of the various
committees working on the con
vention are: C. I. Crlder, general
chairman; Harold Rich, rooms;
IiOnner Katston. decorations and
signs; Walter S. Muir. autos for
the county tour on Friday.
The convention sessions will be
held in the Dallas armory. The
banquet Tuesday night is the only
cntertainmont furnished -by the
city, oaide from a sightseeing tour
Friday morning.
The rains of the past few days
insure that the l'olk county crops
will be looking their very best,
and the orchards the same. There
will be opportunity to visit a num
ber of commercial flax field
which nro showing rapid growth
under idoal weather conditions.
The clfy park, which Is one of
the beauty spots of Dalian, hae
been given a great deal of prepa
ration by the city park board. A
new sanitary system has been In
stalli'd and new stoves and cook
ing shrdii built. A number of the
visitors will probably camp in the
nu to park in connection with the
city park.

by Itev. J. E. Strevey, pastor of
the First Metnouist Episcopal
church of Newberg.
Word was sent to Dr. Carl G,
Douey, president of Willamette
university, expressing pleasure in
his r e t u rn and In h is i in p ro ved
health.
Various reports of pastors were
given, among them the report of
Itev. S. W. Hall of Silverton, show
ing a splendid growing church.
The conference by rising vote
ordered a letter of appreciation
sent to the Silverton Commercial
club for the trip to Silver Creek

Mrs. Effio Dunlap of Salem rep
rcgeu ted the ladles' aid societies
in a ten-minute address. In her
address she reported that no
charge In the district is without
ladies' Pid society. Other

tion Advocate, and Professor W.
H. Hertzog of Kimball school of
theology.

tine Deick, Bishop W. O. Shepard,
Dr. Ocorgo Dean and Dr. D. H.
Leech were among the speakers.
It was revealed that 52 per cent
of the population of the United
States are affiliated to churches
by membership and that of this
number but onethrrd are- in regu
lar attendance. One of the speak
ers suggested that "Souls be Bared
instead of soles. Don't stop to
count those whom you have saved
but count thosb who are yet left to
be won over to the church. Don't
be satisfied wfth just getting some
new members, get all of the five-
sixths. Co out after them as

Field day for Hoy Scouts of Sa
lem, Corvllis, Chcmawa and Leb
anon will be held nt the Washlng-
on school grounds at Salem to
morrow. The Burnett trophy will
he awarded to the troop making
the bent showing In the various
scout drills and contests. Pen
nants have been secured and will
