Proceedings in "quo warranto"
will be instituted in the high

freely translated, means "by what
mthority," and the purpose of the
case will be to determine by what
authority, if any, Governor Pierce

C. Veatch as his successor.
Attorney Kaste also announced

warden, would receive no salary
at least until the legislature next
convenes, lie pointed out tbat
under the law the muster fish

eys appropriated for that purpose
from the general fund. The legie
laure failed so to appropriate. To
pay the master fish warden out of
revenues would be illegal, accord
ing to Kaste.

ion that Veatch and not Dr. Rose
was a member of the fish commis
sion. "The attorney general basc&hid
opinion on a political hearing, in
which the governor usurped the
power of the judiciary." declared
Dr. Ross. "He disregarded the
law.'

boxing championship of the world
will be held on the Pacific coast if
Jack Dempsey, title holder plays

Tommy Gibbons, St. Paul aspirant
