During the week ending today a
total of 62 men were placed In
jobs thraugh the efforts of the
United States employment service,
which has its headquarters In the
Salem Y. M. C. A, building. One
hundred fourteen men applied for
work during the week. Of the 62
men who were placed 22 were
agricultural and farm workers, 27
were common laborers, and three
were woods laborers. Six women,
four of whom were agricultural
workers, were given employment
through the government bureau
One cook and one housekeeper
were given work. A total of 23
women applied for work.

had disappeared. School authori-

show up at school at all, and it is

The Chenowith. boy disappeared
from Salem once last summer and
was picked up by police officers In
Newport. He left home this time
on his bicycle, which had a Port
land Journal delivery bag on the
handlebars.
Police officers believe the boy
may have boen lured away from
home by older boys who have tak
en him with them on a 'bum
ming" trip. Mrs, Chenowith does

though she maintains she has al

her hoy might have been the vic
tim of an accident, yet unreported
