How to Solve the Cross-Word Puzzle
Solutions must reach the Ad-Gram Puzzle Editor, before 9 a. m. on Friday of next week. Winners will
be published each Friday. Awarding of prizes for accuracy of solution plus the best 25-word essay giving rea
sons for patronizing any one of the advertisers on the page.
Words extending horizontally or vertically, or both, begin in the numbered squares. One letter is to be
placed n each white square. A word runs until it is stopped by an ad square or by the border of the diagram.
Proceed by choosing word that agrees with a given definition and fits the space- Each word provides clues
to others. Certain words will be found In text of ad squares which will assist in solving the puzzle. Journal
employees excluded.
