lhat, beginning March 1 at 6:30
p. m., the Pacific highway, In tbe
Sacramento river canyon, north ot
Redding, Shasta county, will be
closed to traffic for 16 hours daily,
until May 15.

In force betwen kaHway creek, 23
miles north of Redding, and Delta,
27 miles north of Redding. The
gates at either end of this section
will be locked at 6:30 o' clock p.
m. each evening and will not open
ed to traffic until 10:3$ a. la
the following morning.
The closing is necessary because
of reconstruction work which will
necessitate heavy blasting during
the night tiiua and the closing of
the road. The work wilt be rush' J
during the next three months with
the expectation that the highway
may be opened ftK a longer period
during the season of heavy sum
mer travel.
In making he announcement,
the commissiop pointed out that
nt, detours wil'. be available
around the work ind that there
are only limited tcccommodatlons
north of Redding and south of
Dunsmuir.
A similar closing was enforced
last spring without serious incon
venience to the public. Every ef
fort will be made to handle traf
fice over the construction work
during the hour me road Is open

The Constantinople newspapers,
