Thirty-three house bills were
passed. Two bills were killed, sev
eral re-referred and a number
taken from the table for further
committee action.

cial.) Little three-year-old Alma
Marie Beutel! swallowed a watch
wheel about the size of a dime Sat
urday afternoon while at play. Shi
was rushed to the hospital at once
where an X-ray was taken show
ing the location ot the wheel. It
wae quickly removed by the aid of
a bronchoscope and no 111 ef fee's
were suffered.

Silverton, Feb. 17 (Special) A
group of Silverton business men
formed a week end party and
motored to the Nestucca river
where they spent the time In
arch of tUeelheada. Those going
out were Austin Eastman, John
HobUtt, Cal Schlador and Mr.
Eastman, the father of Austin
Kastman.
Evening services at Trinity
church have been discontinued for
the present. Rev. George Henrlk-
en, paator of Trinity church, has
been suffering from 111 health for
the past months and as he ha so
many other duties has reruested
that they bo discontinued for two
or three waeks at least. Rev. Mr.
Henrlksen has just returned from
a m Inst e rial conference of Luth
eran churches at Minneapolis,
Minnesota. He reports that It Is
the desire of the Lutheran church
of America to free itself from debt
this spring and that It has asked
alt member churches to assist In
this. In order to accomplish most
In the least time next Sunday af
ternoon has been set aside for the
raising ot the funds. It la under
stood that all Luthoran churches
In America which belong to this
association of Lutheran churches,
will spend the time between two
and four o clock in collecting the
funds. Trinity church at Silver
ton has been divided Into nineteen
districts. Each district has been
given two solicitors who will call
on the families In their district be
tween the hours arranged. They
leave Trinity church at two o'clock
and report back to the church
again at four.

week-end visiting at Portland.
Miss Eva Rue, who was former
ly with the Silverton hospital force
spent the week-end at Silverton as
guests of relatives and friends.
Miss Rue is now with the hospital
at Mill City.

assisting Dr. O. Locke who has a
number of patients at Silverton
Dr. Locke expects to remain here
for several weeks. Before com

St Valentine's day was happily
celebrated at Silverton in various
forms. There were old fashioned
dances and parties. Of the lat
ter perhaps the two best attended
were the high school party at tne
Eugene Field auditorium and the
Trinity young people's society at
Trinity social rooms. At both of
these red and white Valentine dec
orations were effectively used. At
the auditorium a huge heart hung
from the middle and from this
red and white streamers were
draped to the corners. A program
consisting of a cornet solo by Amos
Benson, a skit by Dwisht Rlrcher,
and Olive Banks, a violin duet by
Bertha Aim and Francis Coberly
with Anita Gilkerson at the piano,
a vocal solo by Burns Gilkerson
was given at the h it'll school. This
