brokers in Melbourne to the Lon
don Wool Merchants' nmoclation,
saying it had been derided to re
duce tho offerings fifty per cent
from February 23.
Tho Dally Mail quotes the lead
ing London dealers as saying Brit
ish manufacturers are unable to
pay the highest prices demanded
and at the January sales there was
what amounted to a buyers' strike.
The manufacturers are now work
ing on diminishing stocks and
when these are exhausted must
pay whatever the growers demand.
Prices in 1924 steadily Increas
ed, the advance varying from 35 to
57 p?r cent. An Australian clip
of 2,000,000 bales fetched before
the war 26,000,000 pounds sterling.
The growers expect to obtain near
ly 70.00'), 000 pounds sterling in
1925.
