The senate today passed Sena
tor Magladty's bill which given
the secretary of state authority to
employ all the officers used In the
state traffic department and lim
its the number to not more than
25 men. At present the authority
is centralized in bis office but he
is limited to seven men, and
through s gentlemen's agreement
the state highway department ha
added seven more, and all are paid
from the same fund. The measure
increases the salary of the chief
state traffic Inspector from $2CO
to $250 a month. Provision if
made that traffic officers start at
