Mrs. George Hubbs of Silverton,
and a sophomore at Oregon Agri
cultural College, and his team of
lieutenants came out ahead of all
other teams In a day's drive for
the memorial building. Mr. Hubbs
and his team had $4,500 to their
credit. Mr. Hob be Is also a pros
pective pledge for National Col
legiate Players, a dramatic organ
ization at tha college. He recent
ly took part In a play, "Wonder
Hat, given by prospective pledges.
Among Silverton people on the
sick list are Mrs. George Honrik
sen, Mrs. B. Sundvold, Mrs. J. P.
Larson, Mrs. H. Rue, Ellison Bris- ,
tol, O. J. Moen. The latter two are
reported as being 111 with small
pox. Mr. and Mrs. E. Minor have
gone to San Francisco, California,
where Mr. Minor will enter the
Southern Pacific hospital for
treatment. Mr. Minor has been an
employee of the Southern Pacific
company at Silverton for a num
ber of years.
Mrs. W. L. Jones of Hoqulftm,
Wash., Is at Silverton for a vlnlt

Bilverton and for many years made

Silverton friends have received
word that Rev. H. J. Thorpe of
Portland has accepted a call to

number of times and has a number

at Suletn and Grand Opera at Port

The Silverton Choral Society
will meet at the Christian church
Sunday, February 1, at 2:30 for
practice. The change of meeting
from Monday nights to Sundny
afternoon is due to the fact that
the leader. Tom Kaarhus, hns
moved to Eugene and can only be
present Sunday afternoons. The
society Is preparing a cantata for
Easter.
J. H. Hyett, formerly with the
First National Dank of Silverton
and later cashier at Creswell, Ore
gon, has returned to Silverton and
has taken office room at the
Hubbs Real Estate company. Mr.
