Ambassndor. one of the palatial
hotels of Atlantic City. Managers

Six special Pullman trains will
be required to carry the associates
of the company to the convention.
Train No. 1 will be made up at
Ogden, Utah, on January 17th, by
two special sleepers from Los An
gelcA and one from each, Oakland,
Calif., Sacramento, Calif., Salt
Lake City: and at Green River,
Wyo., will tako on special Pull
man sleepers from Pendleton, Ore.,
and Pocntello. Idaho. This train
will be routed over the Union
Pacific. Chicago & Northwestern
to Chicago and thence to Atlantic
City, over the Pennsylvania rail
road. Train No. 2 will make Its Jour
ney over tho Great Northern.
Burlington and the Pennsylvania
railroad, starting at Spokane,
Wonh., on January Kith, there
picking up two sleepers from
Portland, Ore., and one from
fipattle. Wash. It will tnke on an
other sleeper at St. Paul, Minn.,
and then run direct through to
Atlnntlc City. This train will
consist of the regular equipment
of the "Oriental Limited" of the
Great Northern.
Train No. 3 will start from Chi
cago, picking up a Pullman sleep
or from Detroit, at Pittsburgh,
Pa., and continuing to Atlantic
City over the PcmiHylvania rail
road. Train No. 4 will begin Its run
from Kansas City, where it will
take on a sleeper from each. Den
ver, Col.; Atbupuerque, N. M., and
Kl Paso. Texas-. At St. Louis this
train will pick up a sleeper which
will start from Parsons, Kan., and
then will proceed over the Penn
sylvania railroad to Atlantic City.
Train No. 5 will bo made up at
St. IauIh, where it will take on
special sleepers from Fort Worth
and Longvlew, Texas. It nlso will
run through to Atlantic City over
tho Pennsylvania road, at Colum
bus, Ohio, picking up a sleeper
from Cincinnati.
Train No. 6 will carry the ex
ecutives and departmental staffs
from the New York office to At
lantic City, arriving on Tuesday.
January 20th. in time to welcome
tho other Incoming special trains
from the West.
In addition to the special Pull
man sleeping cars, each train will
carry one or more dining cars,
club and observation cars and
.baggage cars. Kvery comfort will
be provided to the travelers.
Three special Pullman trains
wltl take the entire party from
Atlantic City to New York on Sat
urday, January 24th. where the
company's offices and warehouse
will be Inspected. The managers
will board several special trains
the following week for the return
home.
The convention will conclude on
Friday evening. January 23rd,
with a banquet, for which nearly
one thousand covers will be laid.

will attend the convention and Is
scheduled to leave Salem at 9:30
a. m. January Hth. He will be

PROGRESO JAIL
Washington, Jan. 14. The cap
tain, members of the crew of the
American sailing vessel Ruth of
Pensacola, Kla., and a man "claim
ing to be Dr. W. F. Loreni, chair
man of the Wisconsin state board
of control' have been placed in
jail at Progreso, Mexico, by order
of the captain of the port of that
place.
The state department an
nounced the arrests today after re.
teipt of a report from the consul
at Progeso. Representations were
made at once to the Meiican gov
ftrnment thrnu ,h the American
embassy In Mexico City and the
consul was Instructed to make a
thorough Investigation and report.
Asido from the report that the

tail were lacking. No mention
was contained in the consul's re
port that the ship might have been
charged with t 'libustering.
The consul's rispatch was Inter
preted by officials here as Indicat
ing that some doubt existed as to
the Identity of "Loreuz.

of the dispatch.

In a nip and tuck basketball
game the Salem high irchjol defeat
ed thd fast Lincoln high school of
Portland on the local's floor, by a
score of 23 to 22. The game was
the fuatest seen on the hih school
floor thU year with first one aide
In the lead and then the other.
Salem played better than they have
played at any time this year. Ht

end of the first Ik If but in the
second half Lincoln came back
and with a burst of speed scored
three basket giving them a one
point lead. Heenan starred for the
locals with 12 point.
Several time Salem was behind
and In the last quarter It looked
us though the locals were going to
lose the game but they would
speed up and take the lead by a
point. With only one minute to
go Salem scored giving them a
two paint lead. Cherry for the
vlHitors threw a foul but the gun
went oft before they could get the
ball again.
Cherry for the Lincoln school
played stellar ball as did Price,
they bad a faist five and were able
to work the hall down to the bas
