Annual award day exercises
Vere held at Willamette university
lost evening at the chapel at
which time sixteen men, who rep
resented Willamette in football
and basketball during the past
year received emblems.
Fasnacht, Booth, Findley and
Notson. manager, received sweat-
er awards for work In football.
Erlckson was awarded a sweater
for work in basketball.
Certificates, given for perform'
a nee in football to those who have
already received sweaters, were
given Patton, Sherwood, fehara,
Stolzbeise, Huston, Wilkinson,
Oliver, Lilligren, Rhodes, Moore
and Hartley,
Certificates tor basketball play
ing were given Logan, Patterson,
Hobertson, Hartley and Fasnacht.
Patton and Logan were given
the large "W" blanket, the high
est honor the university has to be
stow for athletic prowess. To re
ceive this award the athlete must
have won letters in the same sport
for three yeara.
Presentation of awards was
made by Dr. Carl Greeg Don 07,
president of Willamette.
Following the exercise, tho
members of the 'W" club met at
the Gray Belie at a banquet.
ELOCUTION CONTEST
ARRANGEMENTS MADE
Mt, Angel College, St. Benedict,
Or., March 21. An elocution con
test will be held soon and the two
winners will get gold medals at
the commencement exercises l;i
June, one medal for the senior and
one for the junior orator winning
Preliminary tests will be held the
later part of this month to deter
mine the most capable men for the
final contest.
The tryouts will be held In con
junction with the national orator
ical contest sponsored by a Port
land newspaper. There are at least
six students out for the national
contest.
