the commission, present tbe atti
tude ot the Legion, and ask (or a
statement ot policy In granting
loans. The committee will also
assemble tbe grievances ot tbe ex
service men In the form of a reso
lution which will be presented at
special meeting to be called
within the next ten days.
The commission will further be
asked to have tbe state attorney
general render an opinion as to
whether or not it has tbe right to
consider moral risks in making
loans, as well as a future valua
tion ot tbe property.
Should the commission refuse to
- take action on grievances repre
sented, the local organization may
Institute a friendly suit against
the body for a supreme court In
terpretation ot tbe law which they
believe to have been passed for
tbe benefit of tbe ex-service men
and with a view to loaning them
three-fourths ot the appraised val
uation of tbelr property without
considering the moral risk or fu
ture values.

lors today took up the question

BRITISH HOLD ALLIES TO

ated Press) -The British govern
ment has addressed a note to the
titles declaring that owing to the
fact that Oreat Britain has to pay
tne interest pn her debt to the
United States, she reserves the
right herself to call on the allies
turn to pay the Interest on
their war debts to Oreat Britain.
Settlement Reached
Chicago, April 5. Creditors
here of the bankrupt firm of Kar
kos and Burke, a New York brok
erage house, unanimously agreed
last night to accept the com
pany's offer of payment in three
years on their claims. They agree
to accept ten per cent cash, ten
per cent at the end of each of
three six month periods and 20
percent at the end of each of three
additional six month periods.
