Rifles or pistols may be fired from
within the limousine by being
thrust through port holes In the
sides and rear of the car. The two
port holes on each side are closed
from the interior by a shutter of
armor plate, grained and painted
to match the mahogany finish of
the coach work.
An extraordinary feature of the
vehicle is the Colt automatic ma

from the front seat. When not in
use it is placed in a special com

cushion.
Three guards who may stand on
the running board on each side of
the car are provided with wide
heavy leather belts which they
hook to the eyebolts by snap fas
teners. The gudrds thus have full
use of their hands for the handling
of rifles.
All windows in the body, as well
as the ndscreen, are constructed
of triplex glass, which, if hit, is
practically bullet proof.

Vulcanizer Wrench
Every motorist who uses a gas
oline vulcanizer often burns his
lingers removing the thumb nuts
after a heat and often wishes for
a wrench that would do the trick.
Such a wrench can be made from
a piece of 3-4 inch pipe. A slot
should be cut In the bottom of
the pipe so that it will hold the
nut. A small rod placed through
a hole in the upper end of the
pipe serves well as a handle and
makes it an easy matter to re
move the most stubborn nut. This
wrench will also be found very
useful in many other places about
the car.

Gypsies Use Autos
for Migrations
Watertown, N. Y., Aug. 20.
The northern New York gypsy has
abandoned the old horse-drawn
vans with their herd of ancient
and worn animals trailing along
for trading purposes. Instead many
gypsies are touring this section In
a fleet of motor cars. The spirit
of barter continues with the gypsy
notwithstanding his advanced
means of transportation. He will
trade anything he has, even his
auto, if there be a proper allow
ance to boot.
Protect Ignition Unit.
In washing the ear or in driv
ing through a heavy rain, great
care must be exercised in prevent
ing any water getting 'around the
distributor cover to which the ig
nition wires are attached, which
causes a short circuit. To over
come this, cut a piece about 12
inches long out of an old scrap
inner tube and slip it over the
distributor and wires and tape the
top ed tightly together. This
makes it next "to impossible to
Bhort circuit the ignition system
at any time.

plane machine gun over Narragansett Bay. Recently the motor boat Edith B, containing a party of men
and women, was fired on by a naval seaplane. The boat was riddled with holes and one of Us oc
cupants wounded. Only through strenuous efforts of the party in balling out the boat were the occu
pants saved from sinking. The Illustration shows the target motor boat and Miss Grace Buxton, of
Oakland Beach, R. I., who was struck by one of the bullets.
