Growers' association Mr. Evans
reports that the "cots" are com
ing In at the rate of II to 25 tons
a day and nearly ;7 5 tons are ex
pected before the run le over. The
association will handle peaches
from 167 acres at The Dulles and
Mtimatea places the yield from this
acreage at 35,000 boxes. Peaches
will follow closely after the apri
uts and a large tonnage of vege
tables Is coming In now.
The Dalles lias already reduced
tons of peas, cabbage and green
beans with the season not fairly
under way yet. Tomatoes, peppers
and snuash are coming on am! BbO
crates of cucumbers have been
shipped.
Cherries at The Dalles were very
food this year and a total of 42,
000 boxes, or 340 tons were
handled by the association there

kets such as New York, Chicago,

Cleveland and Minneapolis re

Farmers Set

Albany, Or., July 20. A mini
mum wage for labor of $2 per day
for hay baling and $2.60 per day
for threshing was decided upon by
county farmers at a meeting of
threshermen and hay growers at
the Linn county court house. This
represents a cut of about 25 per
cent over the wages paid last year.
The threshing prices will be 22
cents per sack for wheat, 16 cents
for oats, 18 cents foe barley and
vetch, six wagon outfits, $12 per
hour, eight wagon outfits, $15 per
hour, and ten wagon outfits, li
per hour.
Prices for hay baling will be
$3.25 per ton on a 30-ton day basis
making a daily charge of $97.50.
This gives a profit to the baler
over the operating expenses of
$31.(5.
