The fifty aecond commencement of the Ore gon Agricultural college, to take place June 10-13, will mark thj graduation of the largest flans 'n the history of the institution. More than 300 students will foe graduated at this commencement. Commencement exercisst will be held at 10 o'clock Monday morning. The commencement ad dress will be delivered by Dr. Henry Suzzalo, president of the University of Washington. The title of his address will bo, "Some Anglo-Saxon Id&als." President Kerr will confer the degrees upon the members of the : class and will present the honors and prizes to be awarded. The Knights of -Pythias of Dallas have been conducting a contest In the .ib lic and high school of the ell, for the purpose of stimulating inter est among the pupils in States history. The contest was started several months ago and prizes were offered in the aggre gate of $25. Three prizes were given to the high school students and four to the grammar grade pupila. A committee was named to prescribe the questions and sub jects on which the pupils would he examined. The following ques tions were submitted to the grade :upiis: 1. Describe the battles of Con ;;rd and Lexington. 2. Tell about Washington and his army at Valley Forge. 3. Memorize the Declaration of Independence from the beginning to the following words: "To prove this let facts be submitted to a candid world." 4. What were the conditions that prompted the making of the ; Floyd D. Moore and Glen O. Hol man. The prizes were awarded the grammar pupils yesterday morning as follows: 1st prize, i $6.50, Kenneth Day; 2nd prize, $3,50, Helen Butler; 3d prize, $2.50, Alfred Gerlingcr; 4th prize $1.50, Myrtle Uarber. The questions submitted to the high school were as follows: 1. Why did the revolution In I England, led by Cromwell, fail. I 2. Name the causes whicji led to the Revolutionary war and its re ints on the nations of the world. 3. Tell why the doctrine of the Declaration of Independence was called revolutionary in its char acter at the time proposed. 4.
