Seaside-Astoria
Road Bridge Is
Closed for Repair
Astoria, Ore., May 21. Be
cause of the unusually heavy traf
fic borne by It recently through
the operation of heavy trucks
across the span, the bridge span
ning the Wehanna near Seaside
on the Astoria-Seaside road has
been found to have become so
weakened that it is really danger
ous for further traffic. It was
stated by II. N. Hackett, county
roadmastcr, and for that reason
will be closed while new stronger
and decking is being put in.
It Is hoped to have the work
completed by tomorrow night, but
It may take longer. If more time
is required the public Will be so
advised. Until the work on the
Wahaona bridge is completed all
vehicular traffic in our cut of
Seaside will of necessity have to
be delayed.

In Forest Reserves
Los Angeles, May 21. Uncle
Sam's forest service is co-operating
with the towns in southern
California In the establishment of
automobile camp grounds for tour

city officials recently got together
In convention and standardized
their auto camp service. Now com-!

that a series of free automob'i'

California by the forest service.
Many of these are equipped with
garbage pits, tables, benches, fire
places, etc.
In announcing this innovation,

for this. Any obap who can figure

national forests of California.
Most of this number traveled by
automobile and camped in the
forests. In this connection,, the
government announces that camp
ers will be closely watched, as last
year they were responsible for 344
forest fires. It Is estimated that
this year will bring the number of
visitors to the national forests of
California up to 2,000.000.
To Straighten Front Axles
A method of straightening a
front axle that has been bent in a
vertical plane is to take two
lengths of 4t4-inch joist, long
enough to reach from the upper
side of each spring plate, to a
cross timber of the ceiling or roof
of the garage. Then if the jack
is placed beneath the axle at the
bent, enough pressure may be ap
plied by means of It to force the
axle back into shape.

MISFIT TUBES
Ordinary tubes are simply straight pieces of tubing
which must be forced by inflation into the ring-shape
of the casing.
This results in wrinkles which in tun lead to pincbed
and torn tubes.
Michelin Tubes, on the other hand, are made ring-shaped
ike tie inside of the casing itself, and hence fit per
fectly without wrinkling or stretching. Naturally
Michelin Tubes last longer. Let us show you the dif
ference in shape and wearing qualities between Mich
elins and all other makes.

Testing Vent Pipe
In filling the radiator of the
car allow enough water to pass in
to bring the level over the end of
the vent-pipe. If this pipe Is clear,
as It always should be, the fact
will be indicated by the over
flowing of the Water through it.
If it Is not clear, the water will
overflow through the filter cap
and not through the vent pipe,
which should be attended to at
once. J

as If done with a reamer.

Watch Air Pressure in Tires
The life of a tire Is the air it
rontalns. The more air, or
dinarily, the longer the life. Of!
course there are exceptions, bat It
U a sate rule to start with 10
pounds air pressure to the cross
section Inch and If more Is needed
to add It. Thus a 3 inch tire!
will require 70 younds and a 4
tnch tire SO pounds. Road, load
and speed are determining factors

Clogged Oil Pipe
It is possible to ciear out a Ford
oil pipe which has become clogged
by taking off the front gear plate,
which discloses the cam gear, and
this is removed with a puller.
Now the end of the pipe is ex
posed, and to this an air hose is
connected, the air is turned on
and the obstruction is blown out.
Without this little trick it is
necessary to tear down the en
gine to get at an obstruction of
this kind. . I
