That they will seek to place one
of their number In the senior vicc-
commandership of the department
of Oregon was practically the de
cision last night of the delegates
who will represent the Marion
post at the convention cf the Vet
erans of Foreign Wars to be held
in Portland May 8-9.
The meeting of the delegates
was held after the tegular meeting
of the Marion post in the armory
and at which the action of the
delegation on Saturday when dele
gates from Portland and different
valley towns will meet in an in
formal conference to discuss the
onventlon, was decided The dele
gates from the Marion post will
undoubtedly support the majority
Portland candidate for the com-
tnandership.
After the conference Saturday
the delegates and members of the
local post will meet at u luncheon
In the Marion hotel at noon.
Owing to the inability of LeRoy
Hewlltt to attend the Portland
convention I.ylc J. Page was elect
ed as a delegate, and because of
he Increased number o) members
since the last meeting, Bolton
Humble was elected as an addition
al delegate. The remaining repre
sentatives are Carl Abrams, Maio
rt. O. Miler and Commander Hag
mann.
Installation of the officers elect
ed at the previous meeting took
place. W. K. Bobbing was in
stilled as quart ermaster In place at
Carl brums, and Fred Robertson

of one Mrs. Pennington, who re
sides on the Jefferson road near
Salem, Mrs. Pennington would
have been badly victimised. Ac
tually, however, she is short but
about 70 cents In cash, a little
fruit and a half loaf of bread.
Returning home after a day
spent elsewhere. Mrs. Pennington
found that her house had been en
tered and had been thoroughly
gone over by thieves. Nothing was
