Aurora. Or., Jan. 22. The Auro
ra school board has received con
siderable encouragement of late in
the matter of organizing a union
high school district. The proposi
tion as submitted by the local rtis-
tricr seems to carry a very Strong
appeal to the aurorundlng districts,
and it sems quiti likely that a un
ion which will be a mutual bene
fit will be the result.
Acting upon Instructions qiven at
a recent meeting of patron.', the
local committee is conferring with
directors of Burroundlng districts
in older to get an expression from
each district interred regarding
the sentiment toward the proposed
Union high school. When these
conferences have been completed
ihe matter will be brought up be
fore the voters of the several dls
riots for final decision.
The public service commission
has granted the petition of the Au
rora Mutual Telephone company
asking for an increase in rates.
Charles Kraxberger of Aurora
was recently elected one of the di
rectors of the Canby Co-operative
Cheese Produce company. 'iTir,

Word was received here this
week from San Francisco, Gal.,
concerning the death of Miss Lily
Kbcrhart, who passed away on
January 10. Heart trouble is said
to have been the immediate cause
of her death. Miss Bberhart had
many friends in this vicinity where
she had lived for some time.
