Mrs. Owen Cotterman enter tained- the South Circle of the First Christian church at her home, 1535 Highrand avenue last Wednesday afternoon for the reg ular business meeting and social hour. The Luelki Kimball club will meet in the assembly hall of the Kimball school of Theology Fri day afternoon for the usual month ly meeting. Mrs. Minnie Marcy Bates who has been president of the club for two years will resign at this meeting so tbflt she may accept a position with the Sunday school of the First Methodist church. Theron Hoover will arrive home tonight from O. A. C. to visit at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Hoover on North Cot tage street. From Grants Pass, Or., came the news yesterday of the engage ment of Miss Alva Wilson, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Wilson of Grants Pass, to Philip Twohy of Portland. The bride-to-be is a graduate of the University of Ore gon. a member of Kappa Kuppa Gamma sorority. Mr. Twohy the son of John Twohy. Mrs. Elmer Rosa (Gertrude Robison) returned last night from a short visit with friends in Pprt liand. Mrs. Edward Gillinghajn is home from a visit of several days spent with friends in Portland. At the invitation of Dr. R. e; Lee Steiner the Salem Symphony orchestra of which Dr. John R. Sites is conductor, will give a con cert at the state hospital Friday evening for the physicians, nurses, attendants and for the patients. The orchestra now consists of 52 members. Mayor of Cork Asks Americans For Aid, Report London, Dec. 16. Lord Mayor O'Caliaghan of Cork has sent a cable message to the Irish-Ameri cans of the United States urging them to organize a relief fund for Ireland, says a Cork dispatch to the Central News. The lord mayor also appealed to the American Red Cross to send, a i 1 contingent to Cork speedily, the dispatch adds.
