Woods Closed to Hunters as Result Of Fore si Fire Pallas, Or., Aug. 18. A threatening forest fire broke out about two miles above Black Rock Friday evening; on land belonging to the Willamette Val- " ley Lumber company. The concern took (our auto loads of employes out to fight the blaze, which la supposed to have originated, from a cumpfire Two crews working twelve hour shifts were kept busy for some time getting the blaxe under control. The fire com the company quite a sum of money. The result Is that .this entire terri tory Is now closed to hunters and fish ermen, unless a permit iff first secureu. Signs went up this week notifying all that without a permit they are tres passers. All this trouble is caused tu many by a few careless persons who Insist upon leaving the campfires In a dangerous condition. Make Noteworthy Trip. ; Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Morris returned ta Dallas Sunday from a noteworthy tour, going north they first visited B. TV. Siefarth, a brother of Mrs. Morris . t Bellngham, Washington. In com pany with the Siefarths they visited various points of interest around Bel Utigham, traveling about 450 miles. In cluded In the jaunts was one to New Westminister and Vancouver and Brit ish Columbia. From the latter point the party went by boat to Victoria, B. C. returning to Seattle and Tacoma for a stay of 17 days.' "For the bene fit of Ed Siefarth's friends will sav that he and family have a beautiful j ttome overlooking the bay,", says Mr. Morris. . ' ' Gasoline Below Standard. " ' Automobile drivers insist that the gasoline they are getting from the various sources Is not up to standard. They say particularly that they find It impossible to run their motors slow ly ort o idle their engines.
